Road Trip

Well we are on our first road trip. I'm excited to see our family, but the preparation was a lot of work.

This was at the beginning of the packing process.

Don't think we will be doing this very often. Also, I don't like the babies being in their car seats for too long. They love to be moving and rolling all the time.

Once we got the car loaded, we fed the babies at 12:00 and now we are on the road.

Stuck in traffic....

The babies look super cute though.

For MOMs by MOMs: Answering Questions

Hello there! Today I'm linking up with Jennifer at Blessed with Two. She is answering questions about raising multiples, so I thought I would chime in.

When I was pregnant I loved learning how other MOM's run their day to day life. Now that the twins are here, I still find that I need to learn more. The more prepared I am, the smoother each transition seems to work.

So here are some of my answers to the questions Jennifer is addressing today... (I'm not typing the questions exactly because I'm doing this on my phone.)

Were your twins personalities similar to how they were when you were pregnant?
YES!!!! When I was in bed rest the nurses use to always tell me that Harper would be my little diva. Well they were right!!! She is a busy bee. She needs constant attention and entertainment. Also, she is always on the move and kicks a lot too. Which is exactly how she is outside of the womb. Poor Avery was stuck at the bottom and all crunched up. She was so easy for the nurses to monitor too. Today she is still easy going and relaxed.

Did you sleep train? If so, when did you start?
I did start a sleep routine with babies when they were 2 weeks old. I loosely followed the Moms on Call method. They started sleeping through the night at 2 1/2 months old. Now, we still feed them every 3 hours so they get as much as possible throughout the day so they are full enough to sleep through the night.

My babies wake at 6:00 to eat and then go back to sleep until 8:00 or 8:30. We do this because I'm working and we leave the house for daycare around 7:00.

We are still working on a napping schedule. We don't have that mastered yet. However, they generally take a cat nap at 10:00 and then a long afternoon nap at 1:00. Just depends on the day!

Which stroller do you use...pros and cons?
We have a Baby Jogger City Select. I LOVE this stroller. It is not too heavy and it will transition into a stroller we can use as they grow. Right now we just use the infant carrier attachments. They are still too small for the regular seats. Fortunately, there is not one thing I can say negative about this stroller. You can check out our stroller here....

How do you balance treating your twins fairly?
Jeremy and I do a really good job of spending equal amounts of time with the twins. We trade feeding the twins during each feeding in the evenings and on the weekend. Generally when one wakes early from a nap, it's a great way to get that one on one time in. Also, there have been a few times where I will take one twin out with me while the other one stays home with Jeremy. As they get older we will do more one on one dates with them away from the house. Even though they are twins, it is very important to me that we develop an individual relationship with each of them. So far it seems to be working out well for us!

I have really enjoyed this link up posts. So glad that Jennifer, Megan, Heather and Amanda are helping MOM's connect.

That's all for now folks!!

4 months

Dear Avery & Harper,

You turned 4 months old on June 6th. I'm so sorry I am just now writing your monthly post, you both keep mommy REALLY busy!

I know I say this every month, but I cannot believe how fast time is going. You are both cooing so much now. I love that we can communicate in that way. Also, you both smile a ton!! My favorite part of the day is going to get you in the morning. You both get the biggest smile when you see me.

We give you a bottle of milk every 3 hours. Most of the time you drink 4 oz., but sometimes you eat a little more or a little less. We let you decide how much you want. You both fit great in 0-3 month clothes. We have started putting you in some 3-6 month clothes, but you have some room to grow into them. You both wear a size 1 diaper pretty good. Avery I think we will be bumping you up to size 2's pretty soon.

At your 4 month check up, Avery you weighed 12 lbs. 5 oz. and you are 24.3 inches long. Harper you weighed 11 lbs. 2 oz. and you are 24 inches long. Both of you are pretty petite for 4 month olds. They say great things come in small packages...Daddy and I agree with that!!

Tummy time is a battle each day, but we still do it. You both lift your heads and turn them smoothly from side to side. I really think you will be rolling soon. You are both so STRONG, all of that tummy time is paying off.

You are both awesome sleepers too. We start bath time/bed time routine around 7:30. You are typically in bed by 8:45 or 9:00. Some nights you wake up hungry at 4 or 5, but then you go right back to sleep after mommy feeds you. Then you sleep until 8 or 8:30. We love that you let us get a great nights sleep!

This summer mommy is enjoying spending everyday with you. On Monday and Wednesday mornings you still go to Miss Sandie's, just to keep you in your routine. You love Miss Sandie and Miss Amanda so much!!! Your face lights up when you see them.

Avery and Harper we are so lucky to be your parents. You are two of the sweetest babies ever!! We love spending each day reading to you, singing, playing and showing you what this world has to offer. Looking forward to another month of fun with you!

We love you to the moon and back!
Love,
Mommy and Daddy
