Dallas Aquarium

(Once again our posed pics are not the best. Don't they look thrilled...ha ha!!)

We have been busy bees the past couple weekends. This weekend we decided to take a trip to the Dallas Aquarium. It is hands down much better than the zoo!! The animals were much easier for the girls to see. Also, I felt like it was a more up close experience with the animals. One of our favorite exhibits was the sharks. We walked through a tunnel and all of the sharks, as well as sting rays, were swimming around us. It was a bit creepy, but so cool to see.

We also saw a fresh water aquarium full of fish, manatees, and turtles.

The flamingos and birds were pretty exciting for the girls to see too. They actually got to feed a small bird, which was pretty cool. It was so funny because we had to keep the girls from eating the blueberries, they were for the birds to eat.

After our little adventure downtown, we came home and put the girls down for a nap. Before they went to sleep I took a snapshot of the back of their dress. This is by far one of my favorite dresses that they have.

Hope you had an awesome weekend with your family. We have another busy one planned next weekend.

Evening Stroll

It has been such a beautiful day here! After the girls finished dinner, I put them in the stroller to go for our evening walk. Tonight I decided to check out the park in our neighborhood. This was the first time the girls have played at this park. The girls and I LOVED it. I might build this into our evening routine. When we first arrived at the park there were a couple other kids, maybe around 2 to 3 years old. The girls were infatuated with them and couldn't stop staring. I put them in the double swing, which I love by the way.

Then we decided to explore the playground a little more. Avery loved going down the slide. She kept trying to climb up it. Luckily, for me she hasn't quite mastered this skill...ha ha!! Might become more difficult to manage by myself as they get older.

Harper loved walking around and checking out all of the fun play equipment.

We found these little stools and decided to use it for a photo op. They didn't stay put for too long.

Tomorrow it's suppose to be rainy here, hopefully we can go back later this week. I'm so glad my sweet girls love the outdoors. It is so fun watching them discover new things.

Our Trip to the Zoo

On Saturday, Avery and Harper took their first trip to the zoo. They both seem to have a love for animals, so I knew it would be a successful trip.

They weren't too thrilled to get their picture taken before we left. As soon as we told them they were going "bye bye" they quickly cheered up!!!

After a 30 minute drive we arrived to the zoo. Fortunately we got a good parking spot, unloaded the car, and went to meet up with our friends, the Donley triplets.

First, we headed to the Safari portion of the zoo to see the elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras and so much more. They seemed to love the giraffes and elephants the most. After leaving the safari portion of the zoo we headed on over to the children's petting zoo. Harper made a new friend at the petting zoo.

This little goat was so sweet and calm. Avery was a little cautious, which really surprised me since she is usually very curious about animals.

Harper also loved the coy fish. This was such a neat little pond in the middle of the petting zoo.

After leaving the petting zoo we saw a few monkeys and then sat down to feed the kids lunch. The kiddos were getting a bit tired, so we loaded up the car and headed home. We hope to visit the zoo again very soon!!

Just a swinging

Last week our sweet friends invited us to the park for a play date. I came home from school and loaded up the girls.

They were a little unsure at first and clung onto me for a while. They are very cautious of strangers (especially Avery) as well as new places they have not visited before.

After hanging out with our friends, we decided to go for a swing. I was so excited to see they had a double swing!!! Perfect for my little twins.

Their friends decided to join us too!

It was such a fun and new experience for the girls. We will be visiting the park again very soon!

Ready for a break

Tonight I came home to a baby with fever...yuck!!!

Fortunately her sweet sister is in a good mood.

Hopefully she has a quick recovery. I don't like it when my sweet girls don't feel well.

Rub a Dub Dub

Bath time is one of our favorite times of the day. Avery and Harper get so excited when I ask if they want to go take a bath. They immediately run towards the bathroom. During bath time we play, we sing, brush their teeth, they practice washing their hair (sometimes each others), and just enjoy quality time together.

Jeremy's Mini-me

Frequently I am asked who the girls look like, sometimes even told they both look like me. I quickly remind them that they have never met my husband. In fact, this exact conversation just occurred this past weekend. Avery seems to be a pretty good combo of the two of us, but she does tend to favor me more than Jeremy. I might add, not just in looks, but personality as well. She is extremely type "a" and likes things in their place.
Harper, on the other hand, is NOTHING like me. She is her father through and through. They are no doubt two peas in a pod.

You see it's not just in appearance, but their personality as well. I always remind Jeremy that she is 99.9% him and only .1% me...he he!! She is incredibly funny and has a personality that can fill a room, even though she is teeny tiny!! The girl is extremely attached to me and would prefer I carry her around all the time! Lets just say, she's never very far away from me, even when she is playing. Jeremy is much the same way....loves to be with me!! It is nice at times, but on occasion I would like my space. Harper does have one trait I would love to change and that is her selfishness (much like her daddy). She doesn't like to share toys or her momma. The problem is that she is a twin, and she has had to share me from the moment she was conceived. Maybe one day she will grow out of this phase. For the record, Avery is very giving and loves to share her toys, food, and anything else she can find.
I apologize for all of the random rambling, but I know I will forget this in a few years. It will be near to reflect back and see of their personalities have changed. Just for good measure, this is a sweet pic I captured of my girls tonight.

Our Weekend

We had a pretty low key weekend, but those are the kind I enjoy the most! On Friday night Jeremy came home from a business trip. Avery was thrilled to see him. Harper was a little unsure, what can I say she's a momma's girl!! I keep telling Jeremy that one day she will only want her daddy and not me. We shall see.
Saturday morning I got a couple workouts in, running and kickboxing. Then came home and played with my girls for a while. After their nap we went to a friends 1st birthday party. A & H took a while to warm up. Once they found the toys there was no turning back.

Avery didn't sleep much. She was ready to party. On the flip side Harper took a good nap. Baby girl must have been tired. I tried waking her up from her nap to go to the party, but she wasn't budging. So I decided to just leave the nursery door open, hoping she would hear Avery and I in the playroom.

Avery ran off and I found her trying to wake up Harper. Such a funny girl!! By the way, she was successful in her attempts.

After the birthday party we came home and had some grilled turkey burgers. Jeremy is pretty good at grilling! We enjoyed it a lot.
This morning we decided to skip church because the girls were in the temper tantrum mode. During breakfast I let them practice eating with a spoon on their own.It was messy, but they had fun!

We went to a local park to walk and then onto the grocery store. After their nap they seemed happier, so they must've just been tired. Avery is normally pretty independent. She had me worried that she might be coming down with something. Hopefully it's just a molar coming in though.

Tonight we had dinner and just played. Pretty boring weekend, but I wanted to write it down so I remember these special times.

Have a great week!!

Valentine's Day 2013

We had a pretty low key Valentine's day.

The girls were spoiled with a couple gifts from their daddy.

Stuffed animals and a couple books, as well as gifts from their grandparents and great grandparents.

Checking out their loot.

Mommy and daddy enjoyed a nice steak dinner, then went to sleep after the girls went to bed. Such an exciting life...huh!! Oh well...I wouldn't trade it for anything else in the world.
