Our New Normal

**Note...this is a boring blog post, but I want to look back on it 10 years from now and remember this time in our life.**

Almost 6 months ago our sweet twins arrived. Our life is CrAzY!! Everyday is exciting, entertaining and sometimes exhausting. But I wouldn't have it any other way. I wanted to record these memories, because I know one day they will just be a blur. So here I go...

There's not a whole lot going on here lately....ha ha! Just enjoying every second with these cute little munchkins.

They are extremely busy!! Miss Avery is rolling everywhere. We walk away for a moment, come back and we never know where we will find her. Needless to say, baby proofing will be happening very soon. Also, they have really started to enjoy the Jumperoo and Exersaucer.

Which means mommy can work a little on these items from time to time. Enter sarcasm here....those toys only entertain for a few minutes.

Seriously, I need a cleaning fairy to come live with me. My house looks like a tornado blew through the house. If you knew me pre-children, I'm sure you are laughing hysterically. I find comfort in having a clean and organized house. Lets just say, it is far from that now. Ha ha!!!!

Every morning I have at least two cups of coffee to jump start my day. Only had one cup so far today. I just put the twins down for their morning nap, so I'm drinking my second cup cold. Avery decided to have a blow out. Therefore, my second cup of coffee had to wait. Poop was everywhere...on the carpet, a blanket on the floor and all over her. So now a load of laundry is going, Avery has received a bath and I put them both down for their nap.

Oh by the way, Max and Madison are still here! They love the babies a lot. Miss Madison is constantly counting to make sure everyone is accounted for. She's like a little mother hen.

In the midst of all the craziness at our house, I'm trying to gear up for back to school time. Scored some items at the teacher store yesterday. Also, I got all my classroom furniture put back in place. My goal is to work on it little by little over the next couple of weeks.

In addition to taking care of the twins, cleaning house, doing laundry, washing bottles and getting my classroom ready...I have started training for my first post baby 5k. This past Saturday I laced up my shoes and hit the pavement. Felt so good to get back out there again. Also, loved catching up with my good friend Shannon. Haven't seen her much since the twins arrived.

Now I wish that this triple digit heat would disappear. Would love to take the girls for a walk outside, instead we will just have to enjoy the view from our back window.

Well I gotta go. Time to wash bottles, throw my hair in a pony tail, maybe throw a touch of makeup on and conquer this day.

Happy Tuesday!

Twins Baptism

On Sunday, July 22nd Avery and Harper were baptized. It was such a sweet and special day. The twins did wonderful during their baptism and church service. I want them to grow up learning about Jesus and establishing a relationship with the Lord.

We chose two of our beat friends to be Avery and Harpers Godparents. They are two of the sweetest people we know.

After church we came back to the house for a yummy lunch! Took a little longer to cook than I expected, but oh well...we had time to take some cute pics of the girls.

Of course we can't have a special celebration without cake!

It was such an amazing day!

Summer Fun

We have had an awesome summer. This week has been busy, which is pretty typical for us these days.

Monday, we had a play date with two other sets of twins. It was fun to watch Avery and Harper with other kids. I didn't get any pictures from our play date, but here are a couple before our friends showed up.

Taking pictures of these two is quite hard. They love to scoot down now!!

Tuesday, we went and swam with a few friends. The twins seem to love the pool!

Today we woke up early and dropped Harper off at Miss Sandie's. Avery had an appointment at Cranial Technologies for an evaluation. I've been worried about the flat spot on the back of her head, since she was 2 months old.

The specialist said she has moderate flattening on the back of her head called Brachycephaly. Basically, her head is wider across and it needs it to fill in more in the lower back, by her neck. He said that if we choose not to put her in a helmet, it will somewhat fill in as she gets older, but it's still not going to completely look the way it should. So at this point we're waiting on insurance. If they deny coverage, then we'll have to figure out what to do. It is expensive without insurance coverage!!

The picture on the left really shows how wide her head is from left to right. Also, the pictures up top show how sloped her head is towards her forehead, it shouldn't look that way.

So far Harper's head looks pretty good. I really think the way Avery was positioned in the womb has caused her head to do this. She was breech and smashed against my hip bone...poor baby!!

This afternoon Avery and Harper napped, played, and had a little bit of oatmeal.

While making oatmeal, Avery managed to roll and scoot across the room. She started out on her play mat and ended up like this....ha ha!!

She is a busy little girl. Hope your week has been as awesome as ours!!!

Splish Splash

Wednesday night we attended our first water babies class. I know they are young, but with two I need to get them acclimated to the pool. Also, they need to start learning the terminology, so that we can have safe swimming experiences. I love to go to the pool, having children isn't going to change that...ha ha!! So I'm attempting to turn them into water babies. Overall they seem to love the pool.

Yesterday our sweet friend, Jen, invited us to come over and swim. Avery and Harper loved it!

So I put on their swimsuits, lathered them up in sunscreen and off we went.

Jen's pool is so nice because it's completely shaded in the morning. It wasn't too hot either, which was nice.

Harper preferred to be held, which is fine with me. Avery laid back and relaxed!!!

We have a pool date tomorrow with Mer Mer, then again on Tuesday with our friend Debbie. Should be lots of fun!!

I for see several more pool days in the near future.

Have a great weekend!

For MoM's...Getting Out with Twins

Whenever I first brought the twins home, I never in a million years thought I would ever leave the house...ha ha!! Well fast forward 5 months and now I do it all of the time, even by myself. How about that?!?! I love being home and in our routine, but we do at least one outing a day. Depending on their mood and the flow of the day, sometimes it is twice. I'm a very organized person and I love routine, so I think that's how I make it work. Also, I love to take them on walks, Target, the mall and also to lunch with my friends.

Usually, I always schedule our outing right after they eat at 9:00. Before I feed them I load up the car with my purse, diaper bag and usually a cup of coffee too. Gotta have my caffeine in the morning....ha ha! Then I feed them, change their diapers again and load them up. We usually stay out until 11:30ish and then it's time to come home, they eat at 12:00 and then go down for a nap. While we're out and about they usually cat nap.

This morning we ventured to the mall to walk. This is about the only opportunity I have to exercise. It's too hot in Texas to walk outside right now.

It's not rocket science, but I do think it takes some organization to make it happen. There is no way I could be home all day without getting out. I would go crazy!!!!!

5 Months

Dear Avery & Harper,

You are 5 months old. Over the past month you have grown and changed so much.

Avery - We think you are almost 14 pounds. You wear a size 2 diaper. You love to suck on your fingers and toes!

Harper - We think you are finally 12 pounds and you are still wearing size 1 diapers. I think we're going to bump you up to a size 2 soon. You are so in love with Avery and gravitate to her whenever she is around. We think you love her more than anyone.

You are both still wearing some 0-3 month clothing, but we put you in 3-6 month clothes often. They are a little big, but we feel confident you'll grow into them soon.

You both achieved a lot of "firsts" this month. Both of you are rolling from your belly to your back. You are almost rolling back to belly, just need to swing your legs over a little more. You started sitting in your Bumbos more to play. Both of you seem to like this perspective of the world. It's much more fun than being flat on your back. You also love the Jumperoo too. Before too long you will be bouncing away.

You are both cooing so much! Avery you love to squeal like a little girl, it is too cute. Harper you are very monotone and don't use much inflection in your voice. I'm sure you will find it soon.

This month we took our first road trip to Kansas and Oklahoma. Overall, I think you both did very well. Don't think we will do it too often though. We all love our routine that we have at home.

You are both still drinking 4 oz. of milk every 3 hours. Next month we will start giving you baby food. Also, you still sleep through the night...woo hoo!!!! Avery you have established a long afternoon nap each day. Harper you love to cat nap. You are on the go and don't want to miss out on anything the world has to offer!!

We love you both to pieces and cannot wait to see how you change over the next month.

Love you to the moon and back!
Mommy and Daddy

Happy 4th of July!

We started off the morning in Kansas, where we had been visiting family.

Then we loaded up the car and made the first leg of our trip back home....we drove to Tulsa to visit more family.

Once in Tulsa the babies took a great nap. After nap time we headed over to The Kendle's for a BBQ with the family. Overall, it was a pretty uneventful 4th of July, but one we will never forget.

Happy Birthday America!
